Issue 1: MOTHER TONGUE
Specifics:
-
theme: MOTHER TONGUE
This issue is intended to spotlight the diverse crossroads of identity and language through literature, as well as remind us of our origins and how those influence our livelihoods.

guidelines
We ask that all submissions are in Times New Roman, 12 point font, and are single spaced (poetry) or double spaced (prose). Art submissions can be in any format, as long as they are clear and visible. You may submit up to five poems, three prose pieces, and five art pieces (all in separate files please). Poems shouldn't be longer than 5 pages each, and prose submissions should not be longer than 2000 words. Art can be any size, as long as it fits on a 8.5x11 size page. Works in a different language are allowed (and encouraged!) but an English translation must be provided for our editors. If selected, both versions will be published. Also, if you submit a document, please turn on sharing view for everyone.
We accept previously unpublished art and writing as well as previously published writing. For the former, we ask for First North American Serial Rights, and for the latter we ask for Second North American Serial Rights. Simultaneous submissions are allowed and encouraged.
AI generated content is prohibited and we expect all work to be original!

dates & deadlines
The deadline to submit is 2/10/2025 and we plan on publishing our first issue in mid-March. If you submit, please expect an email response around late February or early March with either a rejection, acceptance, or acceptance with edits (which is where if you choose, we will work with you to edit the piece into something that aligns closer with the quality we are looking for).
